Brooklyn Betrothed Anniverary Party: Lemons and Lace

Hello and Happy Winter Solstice!
Here is a summery post to warm up the chill in the air. This past July the Brooklyn Betrothed ladies and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary at The Green Building in Carol Gardens. Delicious catering by Dish Food and Events, signature cocktails served by Smith and Vine and By Brooklyn. Lu Lu’s Confections and Haute So Sweet created sugary treats, and Whisk kept the dance party hydrated all night with fashionable, flavored water drinks. The rustic space was transformed by Rebecca Shepherd into a summer garden, Patina Rentals furnished the space with vintage nooks (and a croquette set) and Blackbird Theatrical Services added to the atmosphere with up-lighting and I created the paper details, invitations and hand painted sign work to complete the look. To add to the glamor, Anni Bruno did an amazing job assembling, styling and staffing a beauty bar in the speak easy lounge. Cheers and enjoy!

Thank you to everyone that came out, and cheers to my Brooklyn Betrothed co-founders, a group of amazingly talented ladies. This first year was amazing, I look forward to the next one!

Brooklyn Betrothed Feature in Brooklyn Magazine

Recently, Brooklyn Betrothed was asked to create a wedding feature for Brooklyn Magazine based on what our ideal wedding would be, a total thrill! We choose the Brooklyn Grange for the setting, a beautiful roof top farm in the Nary Yard. The Skyline view was staggering. I will be posting more details about our shoot and the different groups we worked with including, Patina Rentals, and Parker Red, as well as sprinkle in some of Kristina Hill‘s images of behind the scenes. Enjoy!

Cheers,

Guess in Greenpoint

Lately I have teamed up with Aimee Hunter of Guess in Greenpoint and Erica Schwartz to create custom paper designs to complement Aimee's scrumptious underground dinner parties. These parties are everything I love, a night of relaxed dinning with amazing food, wine, mingling and satiating conversations. You can follow Aimee's dinner parties here or like on facebook to see what she has in store for the next one. I hope to see you there!

Enjoy some images from the Autumn Feast, Warming from Within.

Rustic Name Cards

Hello and happy beginning of fall to you!
Just in time for your seasonal, glamourous dinner parties, Papertopias has created new line of paper delicacies for entertaining. These watercolor illustrations remind me of fireplaces, cider, friends, staying inside and getting cozy in a cabin upstate, ahh, I love them. Each name card has a place for you to write your guest‘s name, and table number if you choose to add it. If you would like Papertopias to script them, email me at Ruth(at)papertopias(dot)com to start a conversation about custom inking your cards. You can purchase a set of name cards with all four illustrations, or select a single design.

Enjoy!

You can purchase these rustic name cards at my online shop.
Cheers!

Whats on my Drafting Board today? Gin

Gin is one of my favorite paper doll creatures so far. She is a flirtatious time traveling alien who is the first of 3 primary colored intergalactic travelers in the Gypsies of Light series. She is composed of pencil, and watercolor, with a gold acrylic eye. Here are a few quick shots of her escapades thus far.

Enjoy!

A Rustic Alphabet

Last week I worked on some illustrations for a rustic wedding at the Brooklyn Winery. The couple wanted to depict their love of exploring music, food and booze in the designs. Here are a few of the alphabet cards that where apart of the escort card display case. They were a blast to create :). This design has also inspired a new line that will be up on Etsy soon! Enjoy

Abigail De Belasco + New Etsy Shop

Hello, and happy Wednesday!

I have been going through some back images lately, and realized I never put up all of the Abigail set on my blog for playing and viewing pleasure! Here is a very belated entry, as well as a soft introduction to a new Esty shop, Papertopias Whimsies. This shop is a haven for these delightful paper creatures, more to come on that!
Enjoy!
